By Jason Alderman NEW YORK - Since its creation in 1935, Social Security has provided countless Americans with a degree of financial stability through its retirement, disability and survivor benefits. While never intended to fully support people when they retire, Social Security provides many retirees with their only safety net against poverty. So naturally, concerns about its solvency make headlines.

There were winners and losers, the charitable food network in Pennsylvania knows all about the latter, although many will note that maintaining funding for our most critical program State Food Purchase was a win.

Government Holdings of Wheat are at Zero By Benjamin Gisin
IDAHO FALLS, ID - Quietly, the last of the U.S. government’s wheat reserves, held in the Bill Emerson Humanitarian Trust, were sold in late May onto the domestic market for cash. The cash was put in a trust for food aid. With no other government wheat holdings, U.S. government wheat stocks are now totally exhausted.
